The National Under 12/15 Handball Championship 2022 is set to hold in Sokoto State in August.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr. Almo Umar Lambu, the developmental championship organised to discover future handball stars nationally will hold from August 26 – September 4, 2022.
“The Caliphate city of Sokoto will once again be the host as the championship is sponsored by the ever dependable and handball loving Sokoto State Government and this championship,” it said.
While, urging participating teams to commence registration earlier enough in preparation for the championship, Mr. Lambu revealed that the winners of the National Under 12/15 Handball Championship in the male and female categories of the age groups will have the opportunity to represent Nigeria in under age international championships.
“While participating teams are advised to commence registration early enough ahead of the championship, it should be noted that the winners of the National Under 12 and 15 Handball Championship and their runners up will represent the country in any Youth tournament as determined by the HFN” Mr. Lambu said.
The National Under 12/15 Handball Championship is a grassroot developmental championship organised by the HFN and sponsored by the Sokoto State government at the behest of Governor Aminu Tambuwal and it is in its third installment since the sponsorship began.
