Concerned youth of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), at a meeting in Kaduna, described the leadership of the association as unfortunate embarrassing, considering their past and present performance.
The group said that the Sultan of Sokoto, the Emir of Kano and other Fulani leaders who are members of the board of trustees should be made aware of the level of mismanagement and misappropriation of the mission and responsibilities reposed on the leadership of the association.
Speaking with newsmen at the occasion, the Protem Chairman of the group, Alhaji Abdulkarim Bayero, the youth have and unequivocally renounced and also rejected the purported plots of the leadership of MACBAN to impose against the wish of the youth the National Secretary, Mr. Usman Baba Ngelzerma as the President of the association in spite of the fact that he is among the torch bearers of the numerous problems and challenges that the association is facing.
“It is revealing to note that the present leadership has been withholding and concealing, trading vital information to government, traditional institutions and the collective members of the association for cheap and political and personal advantages, information that will bring solutions to the problems of herdsmen and farmers.”
According to him this untoward attitude and body language have inflicted deep wounds in the hearts of members, denied effective response to amicably find solutions to security issues by agencies saddled with responsibilities
Alhaji Bayero, added that the crises the entire Fulani community is passing through is a result of bad leadership; “the entire Fulani community under the leadership of MACBAN is been blamed for virtually every form of communal crisis.”
“The leadership has been compromised politically by their peddling false loyalty and support of the Fulani communities scattered across the country to some group of individuals.”
In his summation, he urged the Fulani traditional institutions and leaders to mitigate and avert avoidable dissention of the revered association which serves as the umbrella of MACBAN as an entity.
He also begged and compelled the present leadership to vacate their positions for fresh elections.
“The present leadership must be compelled to vacate their positions and allow for free and fair election to hold, while handing over their responsibilities to the leadership of the board of trustees,” he concluded.
