Katsina State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has started fumigation exercise for this year.
Executive Director of the agency, Alhaji Isa Sa’idu Barda launched the exercise at Kofar Sauri in Katsina metropolis.
Represented by the Director Vector and Pests Control of the agency, he said the entire state would be covered during the exercise.
Alhaji Isa Barda said the available data on malaria determined the selection of areas to be covered by the fumigation exercise.
He reiterated his call on the people to avoid reckless dumping of refuse especially on stagnated waters as such habits led to the breeding of mosquitoes in the society.
Alhaji Isa Sa’idu Barda revealed that people have liberty to invite officials of the Agency for the fumigation to be conducted in their respective areas.
The SEPA Executive Director also cautioned children to avoid getting closer to areas of the fumigation due to the hazards of smokes.
