Leaders and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have overwhelmingly given the party and the government a pass mark, affirming that there is the need to preserve the leadership of the state by voting for the party in 2023, while at the same time, thanking Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the development of Asaba.

The leaders, made this known, when the campaign train of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) berthed in Oshimili North and South on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in continuation of the party’s local government campaigns.

Those who spoke during the campaign include, Chief Patrick Ukah, Hon. Pat Ajudua, Ogbuesi Ejiofor Onyia, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya and Mr. Garuba Shehu.

Welcoming the campaign train to Oshimili North Local Government Area, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah assured the party’s leadership in the state of their preparedness to win the election in 2023, as all necessary actions have been taken care of to ensure victory at the polls.

“The party leaders in Oshimili North have worked to ensure victory for our party, the PDP at all levels in 2023. All the necessary actions have been taken care of to ensure our party wins.

“These actions were taken because of our love for our governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and our Governorship Candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates.” He stated.

On her part, the member representing the Oshimili North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Pat Ajadua said that the local government has no other party to vote for, but the Atiku/Okowa, Oborevwori/Onyeme tickets and that of members of the party running for the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.

“All we are saying is that Atiku/Okowa, Oborevwori/Onyeme, and other PDP candidates will be elected in 2023. We have agreed and we will work to achieve that.”

Also speaking, Ogbueshi Ejiofor Onyia, extolled the achievements of the party since its inception, especially in the state capital, which he said, has been transformed into an enviable city since the assumption of office of this administration.

He used the opportunity to express his gratitude and that of the people of Asaba on the Koka Interchange, which he said, had given the state capital a new look.

He assured the party of total support in the next election from the voters in the local government area.

“Your Excellency, Oshimili South is very proud of you. We will continue to support you and the PDP.

“I want to say that the PDP in Oshimili South and the people are very proud of the Koka Interchange, which you have done, under one year. We will continue to serve, and work with you and work with the incoming Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.”

On his part, the former state chairman of the party, Chief Edwin Uzor confirmed that the party has done  much in Oshimili South and the voters have agreed to continue with the party, as their only choice.

He, however, appealed to those who are not happy that projects in their areas have not been completed or touched to calm down as the next government will look into those issues, as government is a continuum.

“I have to say that it’s a clear issue, and settled that the party and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa have done very very well in Delta State, especially in Oshimili South. And the voters here have agreed that they have no other choice, but to vote for the PDP to continue with the good works of the party.

“On the issue of uncompleted projects or those that were not touched, I urge our people, those who are angry, to calm down, and believe that what this administration has not done, the ones that they have completed and ones they have not touched, the incoming administration will handle it. They will be attendant and accommodative of continuity. I plead with everybody to be calm for us to join hands to deliver all our candidates in Oshimili South,” he said.

On why the voters in Oshimili South should reelect the candidates of the PDP in the next election, a member of the Arewa community in the area, Mr. Garuba Shehu said the party has a clear agenda for Nigeria, as it has delivered on its promises since inception.

He said that in Delta State, the party has done very well in many areas, especially in roads, schools, health, youth and women empowerment, security of lives, and property, emphasising that the basic needs of the people are being met by the PDP in Delta State and it was so before 2015, when the party held sway at the national level.

Mr. Shehu, affirmed that the PDP government under Senator Ifeanyi Okowa  worked very much on the security in the state, and the fear of robbery, and other criminal activities has reduced.

“The PDP has a clear vision of what it wants for Nigerians, and that is why we want to vote for the party. Before 2015, when the party was at the federal, things were not that difficult, but today, we cannot afford many basic things of living.

“The party keeps to its promises. We can see this in Delta State, Oshimili South to be precise. Where the party, has implemented policies that have improved the living conditions of the people. The insecurity that used to be a thing of fear has been tackled. We can now sleep without fear.

“With PDP at the federal level, having Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa, it will be a thing of joy to us. Atiku is a good man, so also is Okowa. If we have them at Abuja in 2023, we are assured of a better Nigeria,”  he stated.

Meanwhile, the State Campaign Director, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon,  affirmed that the party in the state is working to have a better Nigeria and continue with the dividends of government’s presence in Delta State.

He affirmed that the party has done well in the area of provision of basic amenities in the state and voting for the party in the election will be to continue from where the Government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa stopped,  to rescue Nigeria from the hunger and pains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Government.

“PDP in Delta State has shown the capacity to lead and develop the vital needs of our people. We all can see the evidence of our party in the state and we want that to continue.

“We have done well. And this is the reason you have to vote for Sheriff Oborevwori in 2023, to continue where our dear governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate will stop. For a better Nigeria, we must vote for the ticket of Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa for us to rescue and reset Nigeria.”

He described the party’s governorship candidate as a grassroots man, who is accessible, and has agreed to advance the cause of human and infrastructure development of the state.
