LAGOS-KANO MASS TRANSIT TRAIN SERVICES COMMENCE DEC.20

The much awaited Lagos-Kano Mass Transit Train Srervice (MTTS) will commence December 20.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Railway Corp[oration (NRC) Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade disclosed this weekend in Lagos, while declaring open, a retreat organized for the senior management of the corpration.
According to him, this is sequel to the completion of the re-construction of collapsed bridges at Akeri and sungeru in Niger state.
“ it is hopeful that the final inspection of the bridges by the department of the Government Inspection of Railways in Federal Ministry of Transport would be concluded by December 14, and once we receive the signal, we are ready to commence on December 20.
He said that the retreat was part of on-going comprehensive rehabilitation of the nation’s rail transport system, adding that the retreat could not have come at a better time in availing us the opportunity to brainstorm and map out new ways to realizing the target of the present administration aim of improving infrastructural facilities; especially in the transport sector.
He recalled that in line with the Federal Government’s decision to restructure, reform and rebrand the NRC, numerous efforts have been geared toward rehabilitating of te dilapidated tracks, buildings (stations), signaling equipment and training of our entire workforce irrespective of cadres and grade levels among others.
He said that the retreat was therefore, the management’s attempt at addressing basic objectives at senior management levels in the NRC that will elicit the full understanding and comprehension of NRC’s corporate mission and to translate this to personal mission and transformational leadership that will lead to organizational changes required to fulfill the statutory mandate and short term management targets of the corporation in a result oriented manner.
It was also meant to sensitize and orientate senior managers to the concept of new public sector management that borrows from successful management practices in the private sector; that would help NRC management motivate and leverage the full potentials of staff to achieve exceptional performance.
