Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke, has given directive on how to handle urgent cases during the Easter holiday.
Oke unveiled the arrangement when she approved Monday, 26th March to Friday 6th April, 2018 as period of Easter vacation for all judges of the Lagos State High Court.
“The chief judge approved the break pursuant to order 45, Rule 4 (A) & (B) of the High Court of Lagos State Civil Procedure Rules,” a statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Lagos State, Mrs. A.O. Soladoye, explained.
In the arrangement, Justice Oke directed judges to preside overall urgent applications relating to any substantive case already assigned to them, Soladoye said.
The chief jurist also specified that in line with the provisions of Order 45, Rule 4, “any matter may be heard by a judge during the Easter vacation where such a case is urgent and provided that the conditions prescribed by Order 45, Rule 5 is observed and complied with.”
All judges are expected to resume duty on Monday, 9th April, 2018, the chief registrar stated.
