Kogi To Stand Still As Buhari Commissions Projects

The Kogi State Government has declared Thursday, December 29, a public holiday to enable indigenes of the state receive President Muhammadu Buhari as he is expected to commission unspecified legacy projects.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo in a statement said the public holiday on Thursday, is intended to enable Kogites give a rousing reception, first of its kind, to Mr. President in the capital city, Lokoja.

Fanwo urged the people of the state to troop out in mass to receive the President and display the hospitality the state is known for in the past.

He also urged all labour unions and security agencies in the state to ensure full compliance with government’s directive.

“The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, shall be visiting Kogi on the this day to commission legacy projects across the state,” the statement said.

He said that it is in view of the hilarious welcome to Mr. President culminating in a hitch free commissioning exercise, that government wishes to announce that Thursday, December 29 be declared as a public holiday.

“The decision is to enable the people of the state receive our President” Fanwo said.

While urging labour unions and security agencies to ensure full compliance, the commissioner is optimistic that the people of the state will be better for it for the commissioning of life-touching legacy projects across the state.
