A man whose name was given as Idris Aminu is believed to have murdered his stepmother, Salamotu Aminu with a pestle in Ihima Obeiba Ebozohu community in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident in the central Senatorial district of the state happened last Saturday night, while the victim was fast asleep.
Eye witness account told our correspondent that three days earlier, the suspect had attempted to kill the old woman with poison but she survived the dose.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya said the command has arrested one Idris Aminu for allegedly killing his stepmother with a pestle.
“The lifeless body of Salamotu was discovered by her daughter in her room”, the command image maker told journalists, adding that, “our men immediately mobilised to effect his arrest and he is currently in our custody while investigation is ongoing”.
