The state reads “After looking at the prevailing situation and efforts of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to settle the protracted impasse that had bedeviled the Kogi State House of Assembly, we  deemed  it necessary to commend all the stakeholders for their  efforts in ensuring that peace returned  to the political landscape of the state.
“The Kogi Journalists Forum (KJF), which has been worried about the political situation in the state, is happy that at last, peace has returned to the state and those saddled with the responsibility of bringing genuine development to the state can now face the task ahead and give the people the needed reprieve.
“In a Democracy,  disagreements are  part of politics, but how they are  handled by the political actors, determine the caliber of persons involve and their capacity to show whether they mean well for the people or are only interested in fighting for their personal aggrandizements.
“It is against this background  that we commend the political leadership in the state under Governor Bello for listening to the cries of the people and allowing the voice of reason to prevail.
“The Governor has again shown that he is a leader with a large heart and is ready to tackle head-on, the mirage of problems that have continued to slow  development in the state.
“Now that the political gladiators have settled their differences, we urge them  to settle down for real business of development.
“The members of the State Assembly must realize that they are representatives of the people, who  must have the interest of the people at heart, the same way their deliberations should be geared towards solving the level of the excruciating pains being suffered by the ordinary Kogites due to the under development in the state.
“It is also worthy of note that even when many elders of the party did not rise up to the occasion to settle the rift, the lawmakers and the Governor rose up to the plate and resolved their differences, this is the stuff leaders are made of, and  it is our hope  that the spirit of reconciliation and goodwill, will be carried along in their dealings with the people.”
