Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has urged traditional title holders to be symbols of peace and unity in Nigeria.

He stated this at the turbaning ceremony of Dr. Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar as Sarkin Zabarmawa of Western Nigeria, by Alhaji Haruna Mai Yasin Katsina held in Lagos on Sunday.

The governor, who was represented by Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant, Special Adviser on Political and Power, said the call became imperative in view of the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and national cohesion across Nigeria.

According to him, traditional institutions being the costodian of culture and tradition must set the phase for others to follow.

He then admonished the newly turbaned Sarkin Zabarmawa of Western Nigeria to justify the confidence reposed in him by carrying all manner of people along irrespective of tribe, ethnicity or political affiliation.

The occasion was attended by people from far and near including; AIG Shuaya’u Yari in-charge of Force Intelligence, government officials, politicians as well as business associates among others.
