Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State

has emphasized that Local Government Councils election will be conducted in the first quarter of 2022 despite sabotage by the opposition.
Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari assured this during questions and answers session with journalists held at General Muhammadu Buhari (Government) house.
He said the actual date for the conduct of the exercise would be made public in accordance with the Local Government Law in the state.
Alhaji Aminu Masari said Government had provided over 70 per cent of whatever is required for the election. stressing that, after the successful elections, government would organize meetings with the newly elected chairmen to brief them on the financial position of each of their respective LGAs.
This he said, is to encourage them to brace up in generating more revenue that would carter for their financial obligations.
Alhaji Aminu Masari therefore, urged politicians, journalists, Ulamas and other concerned citizens to put the country and its people first before anything.
Governor Masari however reaffirmed Government’s intention to support communities to legally acquire arms as a step to protect themselves against bandit attacks.
He said the measure was necessary in realization of inadequacy of the number of security personnel.
The Governor who also encouraged members of vigilante groups to brace up in protecting their respective communities, warned that Government would not condone activities of security volunteers popularly called “Yan sa Kai” who moved from one Local Government to another in search of bandits.
According to him, the shutting down of cell phones Network has impacted positively on reducing banditry in the state and assured to consider restoring the network to some additional Local Governments.
He observed that even though the network suspension affected more people economically, but it was not in any way intended to victimize anybody but for the good of all citizens.
