Katsîna Govt Moves To Regulate Mining

Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its determination to organize mining activities in the state to ensure things are done properly in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations.

The State Deputy Governor, Honorable Faruq Lawal Jobe made this known when he led the state committee to identify mining sites on inspection to Dabar-hajia mining site of Rafin -Gora in Danja Local Government Area.

Honourable Lawal Jobe who was briefed on the huge gold and  coalin deposit at the site warmed that who ever found guilty  of illegal activities would be prosecuted.

He said the state government had earlier  directed all miners in the state to present their documents for recruiting. regretting that, “a number of them  alleged to have been illegal miners failed to show off.”

Briefing the Deputy Governor,  Chairman Katsina State Solid Minerals Mines and Processors Cooperative Society in Danja, Dahiru Dan kande said his members had since suspended their mining activities at the site following the expiration of their operation licence in 2017.

Dahiru Dan-Kande said all those currently operating at the site are now on their own

He pleaded with the State Government to regulate  mining activities in the state through providing machines for easy discovery of the target mineral.

 Also speaking Garba Lado Danja who admitted of illegal digging of coalin at the site.added that, each bag of the coalin is being sold at between one thousand two hundred and above.

The Deputy Governor, Honourable Faruq Lawal Jobe with other members of the committee inspected mining sites and some isolated areas where gold is being polished and ready for the buyers.
