Katsina Gov Orders Each LGA To Distribute 36,100 Bags Of Maize To Cushion Hardship

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has directed the 34 local government councils in the state to procure thirty-six thousand,  one hundred (36,100) bags of maize for citizens

to cushion the hardship induced by the removal of fuel subsidy and increase in the pump price of petrol.

“Katsina State Government has ordered the purchase of grains for immediate distribution to citizens of the state,” Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed said in a statement he issued to journalists in Katsina, pointing out that, the 36,100 bags of the maize

would be distributed to residents of their respective local government areas free of charge.

Dikko Radda announced this in his office, while receiving the followers and executives of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) from the three Senatorial Zones of the State, who were led by Senator Abdu Yandoma.

Mohammed Kaula said the ex-NNPP members and Senator Abdu Umar Yandoma quit their former party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

He said Governor Umaru Radda, while welcoming the new APC members, said Katsina Government would also order extra consignments of rice, maize and fertilizer from the Federal Government for distribution to people and farmers in the State.

 Governor Radda said his administration is determined to better the lot of Katsina masses, and solicited for the support of all and sundry towards fulfilling his campaign promises.

He assured the decampees that they would be carried along in the scheme of things by the ruling APC government in the State.

Consequently, Governor Radda directed the 34 Katsina local governments’ party chairmen in the state to work hand in hand with the NNPP defectors.

The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura, assured that the ex-NNPP supporters would be treated equally with other card-carrying members of the ruling party.

On his part, the former State Chairman of the NNPP, Alhaji Sani Liti Yan Kwani, who was once the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, said their resolve to dump their opposition party for the APC, was necessitated by the inspiring leadership Governor  Radda is already offering to citizens of Katsina.

Alhaji Liti Yan kwani urged Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to revive the economic zone in the State, so as to attract more business partners and outlets.

While, speaking, Senator Abdu Umar Yandoma maintained that their ex-NNPP supporters were not enticed to join the ruling party in the State.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda presented APC membership cards to the former NNPP officials and supporters.
