Katsina Environmental Protection Agency Seeks Attitudinal Changes On Hygiene

 Katsina State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has called for attitudinal changes among citizens on personal and environmental hygiene.

Director Waste Management of the Agency, Alhaji Imrana Idris Nadabo stressed the need for proper use of waste bins and incinerators provided by the agency.

Alhaji Imrana Idris Nadabo said they were making every effort to evacuate refuse to their dump site along Katsina – Jibia road.

 He said during wet season all refuse and wastes were left to the agency while the dry season when individuals contribute by sorting manure out of it.

He noted that, it would be good if Residents of Katsina Metropolis and other local government headquarters follow the rules by not throwing refuse indiscriminately.

Population increase he said, has forced high volume of waste but stated that they have adequate refuse evacuation vehicles to meet that demand, and called on the people to cooperate.

On his part the agency’s Director Environmental Management, Alhaji Murtala Dabo said  that their men have been clearing  drainages to prevent blockage that can cause flood.

Alhaji Dabo said SEPA has over 2000 casual workers that keep the state clean as a mark of preventive measure against diseases.

Similarly, he said  the agency assists the unemployed youth, the old and other vulnerable males and females to earn a living.

Alhaji Murtala Dabo advised people against drainage blocking, because it creates flood, that can in turn, create problems for the innocent.
