Katsîna Assembly Demands Tandama-Layin Bridge Construction

Katsina State House of Assembly has called on the Executive Arms to construct a bridge along Tandama-Layin Jiba Ward in Danja Local Government area of the State.

The House also appealed to head of security agencies in the state to investigate the alleged extortion being leveled against their staff working along some local governments routes in the state.

 On the bridge construction, this followed the adoption of the motion filed by member representing the area Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai.

The lawmaker who is also the House Leader said people of the affected areas submitted the complained to him.

He said that the bridge has broken down due to heavy down pour which made its difficult for people of the surrounding communities to cross their places.

 In their separate remarks, members representing Katsina, Mani, Rimi, Sandamu, Kafur, Dandume and Bakori constituencies supported the motion.

On the alleged extortion by security personnel, the Katsina State House of Assembly requested head of security agencies operating along Safana-Batsari-Katsina and Kaita-Dankama routes to investigate the alleged extortion being level against the staff working along the routes. 

 The measures followed the unanimous adoption of a motion filed by the Member representing Safana constituency, Alhaji Abduljalal Haruna Runka.

  The Deputy Speaker accused the security personnel working along the routes of extortions and threat on people transporting several potatoes.

   He informed the House that a complains was tabled before him by the people of Kukar Samu on the serious difficulties they are facing in the hands of security agents on the road conveying the products to Dankama market.

   The move of the motion decried that farmers as Nigerians have the right of movement and conduct their businesses in all the nook and crannies across the country.

   The Deputy Speaker called on the House to intimate Government draw the attention of relevant security agencies to take action to forestall the menace.
