In a preparation to celebrate 2023 May day, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kaduna State Council has organized a pre May Day Symposium for workers to have a head way on those to be elected into office to govern people.
The event was held at Teachers House, Kabala Costain Kaduna with the theme, “Labour Politics and the Quest for Good Governance and Development in Nigeria”.
In his lecture, Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmad has called on all the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) members that there is need for them to be the Vanguard of the struggling we are talking about with an intention to have a change.
Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmad during a paper presentation on how to improve the quality of education in Nigeria revealed that “as a teacher I am amongs colleagues, where poor teachers are teaches in the public schools the childrens of the poor people and in a country that teachers from government schools are taking their children to private schools why? Which means you don’t know what you are teaching the children.
On the issue of ASUU strick Dr Hakeem Said people should “Forget this administration they can not solve the ASUU issue that takes them into strick, which according to him is the true of the matter”.
Dr Hakeem also appealed to the authourity concern to Get good teachers to educate your children, almost all the big people are educating their children’s out side the country, with this you must elect good People to govern the country well, if not things will keep moving the way they are, 2023 that is coming the election is not an ordinary election.

There is also need for an agreement before electing any one that, if we elected you into any office there is need to make teachers a priority, take care of our schools very well,tell them no business as usual all this in an agreement between you and a person that stands for an election at all level”, Dr Hakeem mention as an example.
In her speach the NLC secretary Kaduna state Christiana John Bawa, said the reason for this gathering is to give their member courage that a worker can mobilised or even contesting an election.
” Because we must tell workers that they have a roll to play in electing Good leaders at all level”.
“We organizes the pre – May day Symposium for 2023 just to give NLC members a sense of belonging and responsibility to with an intention to fish out those to be elected in the respective community”.
Amongst those that participated during the event were the S A to the Head of Service Kaduna State on Labour Matters, Comrade Shehu Mohammad, Deputy NLC Chairman Kaduna State Shehu Salihu, the Secretary RAATAWU Kaduna State and other NLC leaders from the various unions in the state
