The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Wednesday,  said that the state Governor, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai specially recognises women, because women take their jobs more seriously.

She disclosed this when she received in audience the staff and children of Lighthouse Child Development Center, led by its Executive Director, Mr. Danladi James, who came on a courtesy visit to Government House in Kaduna.

The center is a non-profit, child interfaith organization which is  aimed at promoting religious understanding, peaceful relationship, and acts ofkindness, value and respect for the dignity of the human person.

Dr. Hadiza who welcomed the children to the Council Chambers in Kaduna, said, this was their first time of coming and probably this is will not be the last, as some of them will be there some day.
She  urged them to listen to mother’s who are here to say something or two to the children,  so that they  will know and also they can have  as many mentors as possible, they can have  role models as many as possible,  so that they can choose what they want,  what they like about the person and  can be better than that person.

According to her, the governor of Kaduna State has special regards for women, in addition they have more women commissioners in the state.

“However, this has been seen over the years that women tend to be more serious with their jobs and perform better than the men.

“I am not surprised that you have only one male  among you, you are just following the traditions of what is happening in Kaduna State,” she said.
The Deputy Governor commended the efforts of the center and encouraged them to introduce civic education component in the training of the children.

“I want to commend you on what you have been doing, I was listening carefully to hear one thing that I want incorporated, which is  civic education, love for our country, believe in our country.

“Consequently, this  is where we have missed quite a lot, we don’t really think that we have anything good as a country to offer ourselves, I want our teachings to start changing to help us incorporating that.

“Let’s continue with our teachings of common humanity because if we are able to understand each other’s religion and we know that we are from one source before we either became Christians or Muslims, any tribe as it were, we will hold tight unto that instead of  fighting one another.

“One thing I do know is that we cannot force peace, we have to really truly believe that we want  peace before it can come to us and we have to work for it,” she pointed out.

She urged them to love one another, care for one another and be prayerful in everything.
