Kaduna Govt Intervenes In Land Dispute Between Basawa Army, Bomo Community In Zaria

The lingering land dispute between the Bomo Community in Sabon Gari Local Government Area and 11 Field Engineers Nigerian Army Basawa, Zaria has drawn the attention of the Kaduna State Government.
 Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Salihu, Director Land Dispute, Kaduna State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led a fact finding meeting at Sabon Gari Local Government Secretariat.

The meeting was attended by Surveyor-General of Kaduna State, Zazzau Emirate Council and other community leaders, Sabon Gari Local Government, Security agencies and representatives of the commandant Basawa Army Barracks.   
Baba-Salihu said the meeting was a fact finding mission with a view to report back to the state government for amicable resolution of the matter, thereafter the meeting went into a close door session.      
Suraju Bomo, Chairman Bomo Land Dispute Committee said the meeting was convened to reconcile Bomo community and Basawa Army Barracks over land dispute.
He said the community had formally written a complaint to Gov. Nasir el-Rufai over the land issues between Bomo Community and Basawa Army Barracks on Oct.1, 2021.  
Following the formal complaint to the state government, Gov. el-Rufai set up an inter-ministerial committee chaired by Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
“Other members of the committee were the Surveyor-General of Kaduna State, Zazzau Emirate Council, Sabon Gari Local Government and other members of the security agencies,” he said.     
He said the Bomo community was optimistic that the committee would do justice to the issues at its hand. 
Surajo Bomo maintained that Bomo Community were law abiding people and they respect constituted authorities at all levels.
