Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai has handed over 15 emergency medical services ambulances to medical facilities in the state.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Health, Amina Mohammed Baloni, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Adamu Mohammed Mansur over saw the handing over, which took place at the Ministry of Health in Kaduna.
According to her, the mission of the ministry is to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents of the state.
The commissioner also said that one of the things the state is doing is to go ahead and ensure that emergency medical services and ambulance systems are available.
“Consequentially, we know that we have ambulances in the facilities, but some of the ambulance have out lived their importance. Going by the policies we have on ground, we change the ambulances as at when due, according to the content of the policies,” the commissioner said.
She underscored the importance of ambulance services, noting that they are to be judiciously used, not to be kept in the facilities.
She said, “we have one thousand and ninety five primary healthcare centers in the state, we have thirty one secondary health facilities in the state, broken down, twenty nine secondary health facilities and two dental facilities, which gives us the thirty one.
“However, each of these ambulances that are given to facilities are expected to cover those catchment areas where we have some primary healthcare centers that will require the services of the ambulances and where the patients will also require attention in the secondary health centers.
“We are to deliver quality service in the state as this ambulances will contribute their own quota through the realization of this remarkable mission being put in place for addressing the health challenges of citizens of Kaduna State”.
He said that Kachia has been given theirs, while others would be released to various hospitals that are earmarked for the first phase.
“We have 31 facilities and 23 local government areas, the 31 facilities are to provide quality services to the people of the state because the hospitals have been upgraded, the right human resources that are needed in the hospital have been provided.
“We also have various policies. Through the contributive health scheme, the government provided this vehicles for the facilities,” she said.
