The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command has warned members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state to stop taking the law into their hands and  allow the legal process to always take its course.

The warning was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),  Mansir Hassan after series of complaints from members of the general public, relating to the unprofessional conduct of certain members of the group.

CP Musa Yusuf Garba, in a lecture of members of equalization JTFof civilian security outfits in Kaduna, charged them to be professionals and to always liaise with the police while carrying out any operations in the state.

“Recently about three (3) persons lost their lives at different occasions as a result of mishandling of cases reported to them when carrying out their operations, which they often do without the knowledge of the DPOs in their Area of Responsibilities”, it stated.

The Commissioner of Police has directed that all Area Commanders and their DPOs should undertake stringent measures and supervision of activities of the Civilian JTF, in their respective jurisdiction, with the sole aim of deterring such ugly trends in the near future, following reports and series of complaints received by the command.

The CP further initiated a comprehensive training programme for members of JTF across the state which is focused on cultivating the culture of civility and professionalism to members of the groups.

Also in his closing remarks, CP Musa Yusuf Garba thanked residents of the state for their unflinching support and cooperation given to the Police since his assumption of duty as the 41st Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State.

It would be recalled that a civilian JTF member, Muhammed Saidu was also attacked recently by suspected criminals during a patrol by officers of the force in Kinkinau area of Ungwan Muazu in Kaduna State, leaving him seriously injured.
