The Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development has announced new dates for the State Sports Festival preliminaries.
According to a circular issued by the Director of Sports (DoS), Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, the Commissioner of Sports, Dr. Idris Nyam approved the zonal preliminaries to hold from August 5 to 7 across the centres in the state.
“This is to inform you that the Hon. Commissioner has approved a new date for the State Sports Festival Zonal Preliminaries in all the various centres from Friday 5th – Sunday 7th August, 2022.Fixtures for the matches are hereby forwarded for your prompt action,” the DoS said.
According to the circular sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday August 2, 2022, two teams are expected to qualify from each of the zones.
It informed that from Zaria Centre (Dogarawa Stadium), Zaria LGC, Giwa LGC and Kudan LGC will be slugging it out.
From the fixtures, it would be Zaria Vs Kudan, Giwa Vs Zaria and Kudan Vs Giwa.
At the Saminaka Centre (Saminaka Stadium), Kubau LGC, Ikara LGC and Lere LGC will battle for superiority.
The fixtures pitches Kubau Vs Ikara, Ikara Vs Lere and Lere Vs Kubau.
At the Kachia Centre (Kachia Stadium), Kachia LGC, Kajuru LGC and Kagarko LGC will struggle for qualification.
Fixtures pitch Kachia Vs Kagarko, Kajuru Vs Kachia and Kagarko Vs Kajuru.
At the Kaduna Centre (Township Stadium), Chikun LGC, Igabi LGC and Kaduna South LGC will be battling for supremacy.
In the fixtures, it would be Chikun Vs Kaduna South on Friday August 5.
Igabi will face Chikun on Saturday August 6, while Kaduna South will lock horns with Igabi on Sunday August 7.
All matches are billed for 4pm at designated centres.
