The gubernatorial flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State ahead of the 2023 general elections, Distinguished Senator Uba Sani has opened up on why he settled for the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate.

Uba Sani while speaking at at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kaduna Council  Political Committee Interactive Meeting at the NLC Secretariat on Friday November 25, described Dr. Balarabe as humble, intelligent, sincere and extremely hard working.

“My running mate is intelligent, hard working and has listening ears.

Women are more sincere.

Permit me to say it here, apologies to the men, the truth is women are more sincere.

“If a man gets more money, he may be thinking of adding more wives, but women don’t do that,” he said.

On gender sensitivity, he explained Kaduna is the only state at present with a female deputy governor and is  continuing with that ahead of 2023.

Speaking further, he said that in his quest at ensuring that girls grow up into women that are self reliant, his foundation spends not less than N50 million Naira annually on their education.

“My foundation spends over N50m annually on girl-child education. All elite and all of us in position in Northern Nigeria have to come out and declare state of emergency on education in Northern Nigeria,” he appealed.

Senator Uba Sani while fielding a question on what he would do about some private schools that have shut down following insecurity around their locations, said that security agencies advice must never be taken for granted.

“The issue of insecurity should not be politicised. When government closes private schools it is in the overall interest. Until we get contrary  advice from security agencies.

“We will not interfere with the closure of  schools,  we will allow security agencies to do their job until they advise us otherwise. When some schools neglected the security reports, several of their students were abducted, we don’t want a repeat of that,” he said.
