JISOP Vows To Facilitate, Advocate For Social Inclusion Programme In Jigawa

The Jigawa Social Protection Platform (JISOP) has vowed to partner with all relevant stakeholders in form of facilitation and advocacy for the scale-up of inclusive social protection across the 27 LGAs of JIgawa State and to create awareness on the its  related programmes and activities. 
A statement issued and signed by its chairman, Alh. Shuaibu Musa Kafin- Gana said that the platform has among others, facilitated awareness creation on Disability Law and launching of the Disability Fund, Social Protection Policy, SP Implementation Framework, SP Bill, Jigawa Maternal and Child Cash Transfer Programme, as well as conducted post distribution monitoring of COVID-19 palliatives across the three senatorial zones. 
He said that the platform has also engaged and advocated relevant  agencies and partners at the state and LGA level for the provision of SP programmes.
“JISOP appreciates the outcome of the sensitization for Jigawa State LGA chairmen on inclusive social protection organized by Expanding Social Protection for Inclusive Development Programme (ESPID) implemented by Action Against Hunger and Save the Children International, funded by FCDO in which the LG councils promised and are committed to contributing toward actualization of Disability Fund through monthly contributions,” he added.
He appreciated the commitment of the 27 LGA chairmen and their vice, speakers, secretaries, councilors, supervisory councilors and advisers for committing to support the Jigawa  State Disability Fund.
The Jigawa Social Protection Platform is a non-Governmental platform that comprises Civil Society Organizations, professional bodies, academia and media in a bid to promote transparency, accountability and engender social justice in the implementation of inclusive social protection programmes in Jigawa State.
The platform partners each of the 27 LGA Chairmen and their vice  towards contributing five thousand  and two thousand Naira (N2,000) respectively every month directly from their salaries to the Disability Trust Fund.
Each of the LGA speakers and secretaries to contribute one thousand Naira (N1000) monthly.
The councilors, supervisory councilors and LGA advisor will contribute five hundred Naira (N500) each monthly directly from their salaries. 
Similarly,  LGAs chairman have agreed to work together with Rehabilitation Board towards replacement of the beneficiaries of Social Security Scheme for PWD that have died as well aa support poor and vulnerable across their LGA around the opening of bank accounts, NIN Registration to enable them benefit from various federal and state governments social interventions particularly the ongoing RRR registration.
The pledges will positively contribute towards addressing basic needs for PWDs, as well as the poor and vulnerable in the state. 
While commending the commitment of the 27 LGA chairmen towards giving assurance of a way forward to salvage the lives of PWDs in the state,  the Jigawa Social Protection Platform prayed that their commitment to funding the Disability Trust Fund be successful, sustainable and the utilization of the funds be productive and accountable as the government assured to assign competent and trusted individuals to man the established trust fund meant to better the lot of PWDs and the vulnerable across Jigawa State for better living.
