*Insists he was installed since March 1999 by Timi of Edeland, late Oba Tijanni Oyedokun Agbonran II

A legal luminary, Chief Yomi Alliyu, (SAN) has insisted that the title of Jagunmolu of Edeland is not vacant.
Chief Alliyu expressed this in a statement made available to journalists at the weekend on the planned installation of Lt. General Abdulrahman B. Dambazau as Jagunmolu of Edeland by the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal this week.
According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the news, “that Gen A. B. Dambazzau is going to be conferred with the JAGUNMOLU of Edeland came with a rude shock as the chieftaincy is not vacant.
“Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN) was installed as the JAGUNMOLU OF EDELAND since March 1999 by Kaabiyesi HRM Oba Tijanni Oyedokun Agbonran II, the then Timi of Edeland, with HRM Oba Okunade Sijuwade in attendance”, he said.
The SAN added, ” We have set in motion judicial process to correct the anomaly should the current Timi, who I hold in high esteem, insists on going forward with the said installation of our highly reverred Gen Dambazzau.”
” We can think of no reason for appointing another person to a post held by me other than that I defended my client, Gov Isiaka Oyetola, in the last election. As a person that supports APC from AD time I could not do otherwise”

According to a statement by the Chairman Planning Committee, Prof. Tajudeen Akanji, the event will hold on Wednesday June 7, 2023 in Ede, Osun State
Professor Akanji in the statement, stressed that the choice of Lt. General Dambazau for the prestigious title stemmed from the fact that he has distinguished himself as a personality with a remarkable track record of service and leadership and that Lt General Dambazau has been chosen for this prestigious role due to his significant contributions to the nation and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
