Iju Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, under the auspices of IPU Progressive Union has once again appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on the status upgrade of the Okiti of Iju, Oba Amos Adelakun Farukanmi to Grade A Traditional Ruler.
At the press conference to herald the Iju Day 2023 Celebrations held at the Iju Utility Centre, the National President of Iju Progressive Union, IPU, Akin Oluwalade; said programmes for the day are carefully crafted to rejuvenate the unity, oneness and self-help spirit of the town.
The IPU National President said the most important of the programmes for the celebration to hold on Saturday 4th November, 2023 will be the raising of N250 million which will be spent on various community projects like the second phase of the Palace of the Okiti of Iju.
Oluwalade expressed happiness that several sons and daughters of the town at home and abroad have contributed significantly towards meeting the target.
While outlining the variety of programmes for the day, the IPU National President said guests, sons and daughters will have the day in their memory to the extent that they will always look out for subsequent editions of Iju Day.
“We assure our numerous invited guests to this year’s Iju Day Celebration , the best of hospitality that Iju is noted for while earnestly waiting for your generous donations,” the President said.
He added that a team of medical experts will be on hand to attend to everyone who desires their services without any cost.
“There will be free health programme for the citizen. Covering health checks (various tests and examinations) and prescription and distribution of free drugs.
“The Day will be Chaired by a renowned Legal Luminary, industrialist, philanthropist of international repute and politician – Hon. (Barr) Olumuyiwa Adu. The Chief Launcher will be Barrister Temilolu Adamolekun, our illustrious son, to be supported by other prominent Co-Launchers.
“Personalities being expected at the occasion include: the Ondo State Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON; the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu and members of the State Executive Council with our lawmakers at the National and State Assemblies and other political appointees and friends of the community.
“The Chief Host, Senator Tayo Alasoadura will be on hand to welcome all guests while the Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Ondo State, Hon. Dele Ologun will equally be a special guest”, he said.

Tunde Fagbuyi; Iju Community Development Council, ICDC, Evangelist Solomon Ogunbuyide; Chairman Palace Building Committee, Chief Dipe Adegboye; Kunle Olotu; Ajayi Ore, Hon Tayo Fayanju and the Youth Leader Deji Ogundeji.
