The Director, Institute of Agricultural Research (IAR) Professor Muhammad Faguji Ishiyaku has charged Sunflower Growers, Processors and Marketers Association to identify problems of the product for the institute to find solutions to them.
He gave the charge at a one-day training on Best Agronomic Practices for Sunflower Production, held at the institute.
Professor Faguji said there are problems encountered, being a new farm produce with about 20 years of existence.
The Director also said, farmers should note that there are many problems to watch out for, from farming to processing.
He said IAR will ensure that all problems are addressed for farmers to benefit more.
Professor Faguji Ishiyaku commended the President of the association for his tireless efforts in ensuring his dream comes true on Sunflower growing.
In his remarks, the National President of Sunflower Growers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Bukar said their collaboration with IAR is an opportunity for them to know more about Sunflower farming.
Malam Bukar said the collaboration with a reputable institute like IAR is an indication of success of their struggle to make Sunflower one of the sources of revenue for Nigeria.
