I Will Maintain Zero Tolerance For Corruption, Lagos NIS New Comptroller Warns

The new boss of the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) CIS Bala Aliyu Dangana has warned officers and men of the command against vices, vowing that the command will maintain zero tolerance for corruption and corrupt practices under his watch.

He also asserted that there will be strict adherence to the extant rule clearly spelt out in all the laws and documents of the Service.

Dangana added that he will ensure that officers and men under his watch adhere to the principles of transparency, probity and professionalism, saying they are sacrosanct to dutifully serve the public, the State and Migrant population in the Lagos.

Warning that indolence shall be duly punished as much as excellent performances rewarded, the Comptroller also hinted that appointments shall be purely based on merits and visible antecedents among the rank and file, 

Addressing a maiden press conference at the command headquarters in Ikoyi, Dangana stressed that officers and men of the command are expected to discharge their respective duties with diligence.

Disclosing that the Command is the birth place of the Nigeria Immigration Service, with the highest of transiting and resident migrant population in the country, Dangana vowed to lead with regards to implementing a strict adherence to core mandate of the Service and the reform policies of the Acting Comptroller of Immigration, whose unquestionable resolve to reposition the NIS is already yielding positive results.

” The Ag. CGI, in a bid to entreat heightened productivity, is placing a premium on exploring measures to ensure that the welfare of our officers improves as much as available resources can sustain.

“It is to this end that she has had a series of meetings with all the cadres to enable them to convey their respective challenges and concerns to her.

“Whilst she has commenced addressing the respective concerns raised, necessity demands that I ensure that officers under my charge here in Lagos State Command, reciprocate by adhering to the principles of transparency, probity, and professionalism which are sacrosanct to dutifully serve the public, the state and Migrant population in Lagos.

To accomplished the aforementioned, Dangana promised to institute a culture of training and retraining of officers by sourcing for the most efficient facilitators within and outside Command, even as he added that Key Performance Idex (KPIs) shall be attached to the portfolios of all the sectional, unit heads as well as his personal aids.

Speaking further, he said that the Ag. CGI directives on passport will religiously implemented at the Passport Office Alausa and the  Front Desk Office at Alimosho.

While keying into the resolve of the Ag. CGI’s to limit the possibility of exploitation in the passport administration process, Dangana enjoined all prospective applicants seeking new passports or re-issuance to access the following links:appointment.immigration.gov.ng/availability, which will enable all applicants to check the nearest available date for data capturing and passport. immigration.gov.ng for self-initiated online applications.

” All applicants who have concluded their online application should afterward proceed to the Servicom Unit of the respective applicant’s chosen Passport Control Offices or Front Desk office in Lagos on their appointment dates for the processing of their application at no additional cost.

” Members of the public should desist from entreating the service of touts whose major aim is to exploit”, the Comptroller counselled.
