Former Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola at the weekend said the recent harmonization of the Oyo state executive of the party is for the good of PDP in the state.
Senator Agboola stated this in Ibadan while speaking with newsmen on the harmonization of the Oyo state PDP executive by the party’s National Secretariat.
The PDP leader stressed that with the successful harmonization of the Oyo PDP executive , the time has come for all stakeholders in the party in the state to join hands to ensure total victory for the party, come 2019 general election.
Senator Agboola pointed out that the last week harmonisation of Oyo state PDP executive should not be seen as ” a defeat to any faction of the party nor victory, but a step in the right direction to bring together all interests and stakeholders to ensure total victory for the party in 2019 gubernatorial election.
“The decision to harmonise the state executive is not to witch-hunt or favour any interest in the party, but one aimed to position the party for an all round success as we experienced in 2002 in the state. The harmonisation was done in response to a memo raised before the National Exectuive Committee (NEC) of the party as contained in the minute of Thursday November 30, 2017.” he said.
Senator Agboola added that ” there was a recommendation of a political solution to bring about integration because of issues during state congresses in Adamawa, Borno, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Oyo states, through a memo. The NEC approved the memo, and this recommendation was implemented last Tuesday as proposed by the immediate national caretaker of the party.”
“I can confidently say that the exercise was in line with resolution of the party to position it to win 2019 elections easily in the country. That is why I am using this medium to appeal to all members of PDP in Oyo State to thread softly, Already, the people of the state are yearning for PDP to return to governance, we must do everything not to squander this chances. Our focus must be first of all on how to operate as a team, work as a team in unity and approach 2019 election as an undivided party to ensure victory for the party,”
