The National Rescue Movement (NRM) Governorship Candidate in the forthcoming Imo State Gubernatorial election has said that his vision is to build a viable and peaceful state that works for the good of all.
Speaking after a meeting with Chinese manufacturers in Guandong in China, Dr Lawrence Cole Okwara said a new prosperous, industrialized and peaceful Imo is possible, adding that he is on a rescue mission.
Dr. Okwara is the CEO of Twelve Global Consult Ltd, a China based company with branches in Nigeria.
As a business mogul, Okwara epitomizes the resilience and doggedness of the Nigerian youths, he believes that given the opportunity to govern Imo State, he will expunge leadership deficit, poverty, violence and other vices that have left the state in the doldrums.
Dr. Okwara who is on a week business tour of China, revealed that he has visited four major Chinese manufacturing hubs, signed major contract deals which will bring investors to Imo State in major critical areas such as farming, fishery and small scale firms.
Dr. Okwara said he wants to stimulate manufacturing in Imo as well as revive the agriculture sector. He also promised that employment opportunities await indigenes of the state soon.
The NRM candidate added that his agenda for Imo State speaks to the fundamental issues that bother the people and the state.
He promised to address security, peaceful coexistence and to ensure the prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity of people in the state.
Top on the list of his priorities are, improved healthcare delivery, and educational development.
The business mogul further added that he is committed to agricultural revolution, Industrialization of the state, development of sports, infrastructural development, youth, and women development as well.
The gubernatorial candidate also added that he is interested in local government and judicial autonomy.

The front runner in the gubernatorial election who is still in China, spoke on his mission.
“As you can see, I was in Guandong to discourse the possibility of setting companies that invest in modern textiles and clothes, next I shall visit Shenzhen and Donguam to woo investors in other sectors of Imo,” he explained.
On what he has for the people of Imo, Okwara said, “I have been in the business of human capital development in Imo State. This time, I shall take it further by expanding the scope.
“A new Imo where hunger, poverty, violence and unemployment are non existent is possible.
“A new state where the government provides basic necessities for citizens in the state is possible, when we win in November, we shall be the servants of Imolites, we shall be the listeners and doers of what our people want.
Dr. Lawrence Cole Okwara, a former professional footballer who spent 30 years in South Africa as a sports administrator, is also prepared in transforming Imo State sports with his vast experience in sports management.
