Government Properties Protection Group (GPP) has called on security agencies to prosecute anybody arrested setting Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices ablaze in order to serve as a lesson to those planning such attacks.
In a statement that was signed by the group’s secretary-general, Alhaji Miko Dan Amar and issued to our correspondent in Kano, GPP described burning of INEC offices as a crime and must be punished because it is unpatriotic destroying the national electoral body’s offices.
He assured that Government Properties Protectors would commence public enlightenment on the media in order to bring an end to the incessant burning of facility of INEC when the country is getting set for the 2023 general elections.
He called on the good Samaritans to monitor bad eggs who are always planning to destroy government property and advised all the three tiers of government to constitute surveillance committees that would protects government properties within their domains.
“Our group is working selflessly to protect government property and we would commence public enlightenment to educate the people on the need to protect government property and we would use different media organizations to actualize our services.
“Similarly, we solicit more support from governments and other well meaning citizens,” he said.
