Governor Bala Mohammed has cautiously observed the fact that Bauchi is being mentioned as the most peaceful state in Nigeria is giving it more security challenges.

To this end, the governor task members of the state reconstituted executive council to as representatives of their respective Local Government Areas to work closely with chairmen of the councils to improve the security situation of the state.

The governor, in an inaugural address to the reconstituted cabinet Monday, also frowned at the situation where some members of the traditional institutions, other community leaders and even some bad eggs within the security agencies connive with men of the underworld to perpetuate criminal activities.

He said, “We will have to change our style, these people are coming and they are really collaborating or conniving, I will say. They are conniving with our traditional institution, with leaders and even sometimes with bad eggs within the security agency”.

Senator Bala Mohammed enumerated areas mostly affected by insecurity problems that included his Alkaleri Local Government, Toro, Ningi and Ganjuwa, saying however that the state government is doing its best to curtail the menace.

“But we are doing very well, we have to work very hard. Everything in this world is about life is about life and property, when you are dead then there is nothing in it”, the governor remarked.

He cited example with the saying of one of the philosophers who said, “Each achievement in life is a set of confrontation with another challenge. You have to work hard so that we maintain that position”.

According to him, Bauchi is in the position that hardly get things in its way, except the little resources it was generating internally and the other coming from federation account.

“Today WASH has adjudged Bauchi the best performing State in northern Nigeria. In terms of sanitation we are doing very well you have seen the situation where we find ourselves”.

Mohammed highlighted some of his major achievements which include the provision of safe and portable water, building and renovation of schools, health facilities, stressing that there is no local government or ward that has no functional health centre.
