Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has congratulated Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal on his confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday 4th October 2023.
Governor Sani in a statement, also commended the transparent and fair process that led to the confirmation of Balarabe Abbas Lawal as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, describing it as a testament to the thoroughness and professionalism of the legislative arm of government.
From 2015 to May 2023, Balarabe Lawal served as Secretary to the State Government(SSG) under the immediate past administration. He was then reappointed into his old position as SSG by Governor Uba Sani, a position he held up until his confirmation as Minister.
Between September 1999 and February 2001, he served Nigeria as a Special Assistant to the Federal Minister of Education in Abuja. Additionally, between February 2001 and May 2003, he worked as a Special Assistant to the Minister of State (Army) at the Ministry of Defence.
The newly-confirmed Minister has served the nation in several capacities such as Special Assistant to the President in the Federal Capital Territory and as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, among other positions held between July 2003 and July 2007.
Balarabe Abbas Lawal, a detribalized Nigerian is passionate about the transformation of rural areas, he is also an active agriculturist with interests in poultry, livestock, and crop production.
Governor Sani expressed confidence in Abbas Lawal’s confirmation, stating that, “Balarabe Abbas Lawal’s proven track record of diligence,excellence and dedication to service,will once again surface, propelling his designated Ministry to even greater heights”
Governor Sani, further stated that the confirmation of Malam Abbas is a bittersweet moment to him personally, as the former SSG’s fatherly role, exemplary diligence, tenacity, professional brilliance and love for all irrespective of tribal or political affiliations will be greatly missed by the government and indeed the people of Kaduna state.
Governor Sani while praying for Allah’s guidance and wisdom in carrying out his new national duties, expressed his extreme gratitude to Malam Abbas for his selfless service to Kaduna State, stating that, “the people of Kaduna are till date beneficiaries of policies and programmes he facilitated in several capacities he has served the nation over the years”.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the people of Kaduna and Nigeria for their prayers, support and well-wishes.
