Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has congratulated the Benue people for voting massively for All Progress Congress (APC), which against all odds, has seen him through at the Supreme Court.
Reacting to the judgement which quashed the case of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Engr. Titus Uba, the Governor, said the Supreme Court’s decision only reaffirms the time-honoured mantra that power belongs to the people.
He stated that the mandate of the peace loving people of Benue State which was overwhelmingly given to him, would only be used for the good and welfare of the people.
The governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kulas, noted that the Supreme Court while affirming the victory of the governor, berated the counsel for the PDP and described the matter brought against the governor as frivolous and abuse of court process.
The apex court further asked the PDP’s lead counsel S. T. Hom SAN to withdraw the matter or risk the wrath of the court by the award of substantial cost, an order to which he immediately complied with.
Governor Alia who hailed the judiciary, saying they have proven once more that they are truly the last hope of the common man dedicates his victory to the ordinary Benue person on the street, farmers, teachers, market women, pensioners, IDPs, youth, and civil servants previously depressed and demotivated.
According to the statement, the governor maintained that he will continue to prioritize needs and interests of Venue people over that of those of people who do not mean well for the state and called on total to support the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.
The governor reiterated his resolve to remain focused, despite distractions until the fortunes of the state are turned around for good.
