The recent inauguration of Kano Mass transit programme by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje would boost the state’s economy through transportation and bring an end to underaged tricycle operation in the state.
This was expressed by some residents in Kano metropolis in an interview with our correspondent, shortly after the inaugural ceremony of 100 buses and 50 cars that would be used in conveying passengers in the city.
Alhaji Shehu Ahmed from Kano Municipal Local Government Area is optimistic that the buses and cars would replace tricycles, especially with the operators who are mostly very young, are driving recklessly without having knowledge about road rules and regulations.
Similarly, Malam Mahmoud Musa of Nassarawa Local Government Area saud that, “we are happy with this development and I am certain if well managed, the mass transit programme would ease transportation in the metropolitan area and reduce the traffic jams being caused by tricycle operators who are mostly kids, ” he stressed.
All those who had interactive sessions with New Nigerian, reiterated that Governor Ganduje has done well by providing good roads and means of transportation despite the economic challenges which they admitted, is a global issue.
