FRSC Deploys Over 1,800 Officers/ Marshals, Vehicles For Eid El Kabir Celebration In Oyo State

With few days to this year’s Eid El Kabir celebration, the Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) has deployed over 1,800 Officers/Marshals and Special Marshals for the celebration.

The Oyo State FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye  disclosed this on Friday in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

He stressed that the Command has also deployed 22 operational vehicles, 2 state of the art ambulance, a heavy duty tow – truck and motor bikes for safe travel during this period spanning from Monday 26 June to 1 July, 2023.

Corps Commander Adekanye noted that adequate personnel and logistics has been deployed to sustain the Corps visibility on major roads in the State to ensure free flow of traffic, reduction in Road Traffic Crashes, injuries and fatalities.

According to him, the Oyo state FRSC Command will be organizing a mega rally at the Old – Toll gate Ibadan to sensitize the members of the Park Management System (PMS) on safe drive during and after the festive period, while the 

Command has perfected plan to collaborate with other sister security agencies in ensuring the safety of lives and properties on roads across the state as well as at Eid praying ground.

Corps Commander Adekanye while maintaining that Road Safety is a shared responsibility, lauded the  Oyo state government for the various measures taken to ensure that construction companies handling various road projects come up with palliatives on our roads to ensure free flow of traffic

While warning that FRSC personnel will apprehend trucks/ vehicles in the habit of carrying passengers and goods together, as well as those without valid drivers licence, overloading, non – functional wipers, non – use of seat belt and driving against traffic, noted that 

those whose vehicles are not maintained to do so especially now that the rainy season has set in and admonished them to check their tyres, lightening system, windscreen and wipers before embarking on any journey.

Corps Commander Adekanye then advised residents of Oyo State to exhibit high level of discipline on the road by obeying all road signs and regulations on the road, saying  “Road is Patience but do not forgive”.
