FG Disburses Relief Materials To Flood Victims, Flags-off Cash Grant To Vulnerable In Jigawa

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Investment, Hajiya Sadiya  Umar Farouk has flagged-off the distribution of relief materials to affected victims of flood disaster in Jigawa State.

Speaking during the flagging off, the minister said, this is part of the Federal Government’s gesture  to sympathize with the affected communities in the state.

She explained that upon receiving the news of the unfortunate incident, President Muhammad Buhari directed her ministry to activate National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to join hands with State emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to access and respond by providing immediate support to the affected persons.

 Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Balangu, Birniwa, Kiri – kasamma, Kaugama and Malam-madori local government areas were identified as the most affected communities.

” I’m not unmindful of the solidarity and support provided by community leaders, corporate organisations  and well meaning public spirited individuals,” she said.

The minister  urged other authorities, particularly the state and local government to support the victims.

Meanwhile, the minister flagged-off the Federal Government cash grant to vulnerable groups in Jigawa State, at a ceremony held at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse.

She said that about 5,000 vulnerable will benefit from the grant across the 27 local government areas in the state.

According to her, the cash grant of 20,000 each is one among many federal government programmes to uplift 100 million Nigerians from poverty.

She  called on beneficiaries to boost their businesses, while adding that they should not allow deceivers to decide for them in the forthcoming general election.
