The National Secretary of Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim has disowned the alleged self acclaimed factional Chairman of the party, Calistus Okafor, who also falsely presented one Mr. Jude Ezewanfo as his presidential candidate, asserting that there is no faction in the party.

Speaking in a Radio Programme in Kaduna, Ibrahim said former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is the authentic presidential candidate of the party, duly elected at a convention organized by the leadership of Mr Julius Abure as national chairman, supervised and recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ibrahim said Okafor and his co-travelers are tools in the hands of those who do not wish Nigeria well.

“Those who think money can be used to buy everyone, but realised that the Labour Party is accepted by majority of Nigerians who crave credible political leadership and see it as the only credible alternative to give Nigerians the president they desperately need to salvage the country.

The National Secretary called on Nigerians, especially the citizens in the South East not to be distracted by the likes of Okafor and his sponsors, but massively mobilize support for Mr Peter Obi, in his quest to utilise the Labour Party in to liberate Nigeria from the shackles of money bags and godfatherism.

Ibrahim added that the leadership and members of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) recognizes and endorsed the candidature of Obi.

He stressed that no faction exists in Labour Party, except in the imagination of those who are foot soldiers of enemies of Nigeria and Nigerians.
