The main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has called on the people to remain peaceful, steadfast, committed to the peace and unity of the state.
The party also appealed to the residents to eschew bitterness, resist any form of provocations, shun religious sentiments, ethnic propaganda in the interest of Nasarawa State.
A statement by the State Chairman, Francis Orogu explained that the appeal has become neccesary in view of the pending and doubting challenges confronting the state.
“As we move into the new year 2024, as well as awaiting the Supreme Court governorship election judgement, we must put behind us any action capable of breaching the peace and unity of the state, forged a friendly religious, ethnic and clandestine propaganda in our dear state”, the statement added.
“Residents of the state owed it a duty to refrain from encouraging an ember of disunity, religious sentiments and embrace prayers to ensure that the state remain peace irrespective of our religious belief ”
“Our God Almighty is always ahead of every principality. The will of God shall prevail and put to shame those insisting on taking the people’s freedom and joy in Nasarawa.
The statement, while expressing the optimism that the mandate genuinely given for a positive change in Nasarawa would be delivered by the Supreme Court in the interest of justice, equity, and fair play.
The PDP family in the state however, expressed confidence in the nation’s judiciary describing the institution as the last hope of the common man, urging the people to remain calm and provocation,” but be prayerful for a renewed hope that the judiciary would ensure for those who meritoriously seek it in spite of moves by some people to truncate the popular narratives.”
“We in PDP believed in the ability and capability of the judiciary to deliver a decision in the governorship. Therefore, we wish at this time advise our supporters and the entire residents of the state to remain united, steadfast, and committed to their quest for a united Nasarawa State.
According to the statement, the party promised to remain committed to fighting for freedom, peace, and development of the state in spite of the level of provocation tinted towards drawing the state backward and set chaos, confusion against one another.
