Election in Southern Kaduna   Peaceful

The presidential and National Assembly elections in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State was conducted peacefully, with massive turn out of eligible voters to elect candidates for their choice.

In an interview on phone with many people from the area, party members expressed delight that though some local government areas could not start their voting on time due to non arrival of voting materials, the situation has remained peaceful as voters are casting their votes to candidates of their choice.

A source who spoke from Samaru Kataf in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, said, “Voting here is going on peacefully as every eligible voter is casting his or her vote to the candidate of their choice. The turn out of eligible voters is really encouraging as people are doing so with high expectations that a new leadership will emerge to turn things for good for all Nigerians.”

The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) in collaboration with Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC), had in a press conference said, “We, as leaders of Southern Kaduna are advising our people to vote the party that has inclination, desire and potential to concretely address our cares and concerns.”

Another resident of the area, Mr Edward Auta, told New Nigerian that the contest in the area mostly is between PDP and Labour Party, saying that most eligible voters are strong members of the two parties.

He stated that the atmosphere is general peaceful as there is no intimidation but said that people are going about lining up in the various polling units to cast their votes.

A PDP stalwart, Mathew Hassan explained to New Nigerian that following the way the election is being conducted, he expressed confidence that the exercise would be done in a peacefully with winners emerging without any problem in the area.

He explained, “The Southern part of Kaduna is always peaceful especially when it comes to election. We are always conscious of what we want by electing candidates of our choices to represent us at levels of governance in the country.”
