Economic Hardship: Governor Uba Sani Support Group Donates Grains To Zaria, Sabon Gari Women

Governor Uba Sani Support Group has flagged off the donation of relief materials to women in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas to cushion the effects of economic hardship in the country.

The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos during the event, said  it is aimed at addressing the challenges of food shortage and to put smiles on the faces of people, during the sacred month of Ramadan.

According to Mamman Lagos, the country is going through a lot right now as there’s no better time than to come up with this palliatives program to ease the suffering been faced by the citizens of the state.

He said, Kaduna State Government is concerned about the hardship and is currently working to make life better for everyone.

Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, who was represented by Hon. Hadiza Ladi Yahuza, Maman Chikun, said they have at least, 2,500 women beneficiaries from all political Wards of Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas.

Yahuza added that the gesture is in line with Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to ensuring that every resident of Kaduna State is adequately supported by the government as an encouragement for better opportunities to come, adding that the distribution cuts across Zone One, which comprises of eight local government areas in Kaduna State. 

“This initiative aims to alleviate food shortage and hardship during the sacred month of Ramadan. In addition to the distribution, the event also featured speeches from community leaders, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and support during times of need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. 

Speaking with our correspondent, a beneficiary,  Hadiza Usman, said, “I am happy to have benefited from this. It is unexpected. I was at home when they told me about the distribution. I appreciate it. I pray this will not be the last.”

Also, 56-year-old, Binta Yakubu, who is physically challenged, stated, “I am happy this is happening in my lifetime. I appreciate the organisers for doing this. We all know how the country is presently. So, this is needed.”

The flag-off took place  in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas respectively, with more than 2,500 women beneficiaries from all political wards of Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government.
