Ebonyi Govt Charges Waring Communities To Embrace Peace

In a bid to ensure peaceful coexistence across the state, Ebonyi State Government has tasked the people of Amana Community in Ezza South LGA and Ohankwu in Ndufu-Alike Community, Ikwo LGA respectively, to embrace peace and unity in their communities.
The Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Hon. Dr. Donatus Chukwuma Ilang  gave this charge recently during the inspection of the disputed land by the Peace Committee inaugurated by the Government to meditate on the dispute between the two communities.
Hon. Dr. Ilang urged them to accept the peace opportunity the State Government has provided for them  to resolve the boundary dispute, stating that the Committee handling the land dispute is set to make their reports and recommendations to the Government that will bring lasting peace to both communities.
The commissioner therefore, commended the peace loving Governor of Ebonyi State,  Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru for constituting the Committee, noting that similar committees were also constituted to resolve Effium and Ezza-Effium crisis and Abaomege and Ishinkwo land dispute, stressing that the efforts to resolve the disputes is in line with His Excellency the Governor’s charter of need as enshrined in the areas of peace and security of lives and property.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Amana and Ohankwu Peace Committee and the Hon. Commissioner for the Ministry of Infrastructure,  Engr. Obasi Abara declared that the Committee had taken both oral and written submissions from both parties but were at the dispute site to confirm their submissions as presented.
Engr. Obasi Abara moreso, noted that the Committee will rely on the available evidence to make recommendations to the State Government.
The inspection which lasted for several hours witnessed the presence of all the Committee members, representatives of both Communities, security agencies and officials of the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.
