Ebonyi Council Chairman Calls For Formation Of  Female Football

The council chairman of Ivo Local Government Council, Hon Onyebuchi Ogbadu has called for the formation of female football team in Ebonyi State. 

He made the remark, while fielding questions from journalists at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki on Saturday.

The Ivo Council chairman commended the governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for reuniting the state through sports and assured the state’s Commissioner of Youth  and Sports  Development of their sincere support. 

Ogbadu described the development as a great factor of building greater future among the indigenous youth and pointed out that it’s necessary that the state has both male and female football teams which according to him, would be of advantage to the state with the Olympics stadium that’s almost at completion.

He faulted the draw game played by his Ivo Local Government Area, and Edda and accused their opponents  of influencing the referee that awarded extra five minutes that Edda equalized, prompting  the 1-1 draw. 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) State chairman, Hon Stanley Emegha lauded Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the steps taken so far since assumption of office and hinted that  sporting activities have gone far in creating avenue for career development. 

He emphasized that football, among other sporting activities, are serious sources of money spinning that advanced countries are investing heavily on and called on participating players to be committed and ensure they play according to the rules. 

On his part, Edda Local Government Council chairman, Hon Ekuma Nkama commended his team and was optimistic that the council’s team would coast home to victory.
