As a result of the bullet injuries sustained during last week’s attack on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State, a police inspector whose name was given as Ibrahim Gudu has died in the early hours of today, five days after the attack.
Mr. Gudu was shot on the chest during the attack on the APGA governorship candidate in Ebonyi, Prof. Bernard Odoh, last Thursday night.
Prof. Odoh was ambushed and attacked on Thursday night, while returning from campaign in Ezzaegu, Ishielu Local Government Area of the state when unknown gunmen launched attack on his convoy which gave rise to many casualties, including his driver, among others.
The incident occurred at the Rest House axis of the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway. Odoh’s driver, a Civil Defence Officer popularly known as ‘Ogbo’, died during the attack, while Gudu and some other persons in the convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries and were hospitalized till his death, this morning.
Gudu’s death was confirmed by the Director of Media and Publicity of Odoh’s campaign organisation, Mr. Charles Otu in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
