They All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State, Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, narrowly escaped death Friday afternoon while coming back from Ohaozara LGA where they concluded local government area campaign rally.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Leo Oketa, the accident occurred around 4:00pm along Amagu community, near Timber shed, Abakaliki–Afikpo road where a heavy duty truck rammed into the official vehicle conveying the APC guber candidate, Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, and hit the vehicle beyond repairs, but there was no casualty recorded as the guber candidate and three other persons in the vehicle survived.
It was also gathered that the bullet prove jeep hit electric poll standing along the road.
Also addressing newsmen on the matter, the Director General of the campaign council, Chief Austin Umahi, stated that the accident occurred on their way back to Abakaliki, but nobody died, only the vehicle was destroyed.
“This accident would have been an avoided accident but we don’t know whether the truck driver was drunk because I also narrowly escaped it.
“It is unfortunate, but we thank God that our guber candidate has no scratch.
“We are not suspecting anybody because it was an accident, it can happen to anybody.”
