The protracted intra communal war between Ezza and Effium people which was renewed again, has claimed six  lives recently in the area, while others sustained injuries.

According to an eyewitness who wouldn’t want his name on print, the six suspected warriors are of Effium extraction, who were caught trying to move stolen roofing materials  to a neighboring community in Benue State from where they will retrace back to Abakaliki to sell the items.

He said that the six warriors met their untimely death in a play ground in the area, while trying to escape with the roofing sheets, but were gunned down by their Ezza counterparts.

It was gathered that the incident  occurred before soldiers stationed in the place got information.

It would be recalled that few weeks ago, an army officer was declared missing in the area by Governor Nwifuru, who has not been found after every attempt was made to locate him.

The protracted Ezza/Effium Communal war has claimed many lives and property worth millions of Naira ever since it started.

Government on its part, has mounted security agencies most  especially the Nigerian Army to restore peace in the affected areas,  but all to no avail.

When contacted for  reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovewakpoyeya could not respond to calls as at the time of filling this report.
