Delta Police Apprehends Fleeing Passenger With 2 Locally Made Firearms

Efforts by a male passenger at escaping with two firearms concealed underneath his wears has hit the brick wall, following his arrest by police detectives in Delta State.

Two locally fabricated Berretta pistols were said to have been recovered from him by the operatives after a hot race.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect identified as Joseph Vincent, 24, was commuting with three other passengers in a tricycle marked GBB 022 UN along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South LGA of the state on 9th April, 20233 at about 10am, when they were intercepted by operatives attached to Dragon 18.and 29 on stop and search operation.

As learnt, the suspect jumped out of the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape. 

The police command public relations officer DSP Bright Edafe while confirming the arrest in a release said the suspect was apprehended after a hot chase by the operatives, leading to the recovery of the firearms.

His words, ” On the 9/4/2023 at about 1000hrs, Operatives of Dragon 18 and 29, while on stop and search duty along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South LGA, intercepted a tricycle with Reg. No. GBB 022 UN driven by one Isreal Sibito ‘m’ 58yrs conveying three females and one male passenger.

” While search was being carried out, the male passenger who was later identified as Joseph Vincent ‘m’, age 24yrs jumped down from the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape. He was given a hot chase by the operatives and arrested. When search was conducted on him, two (2)  locally fabricated berretta pistols were recovered from him. Investigation is ongoing.
