The Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Ochor Ochor has called on the youth of Ukwuani Local Government Area to be agents of peace at all times, especially in dealing with other youth.
The Deputy Speaker stated this on Saturday February 12, 2022 at a summit organized by Obiaruku Community Youths Association.
Rt. Hon Ochor, represented by the second member of the Delta State Assembly Services Commission, Chief Timothy Umukoro, stated that peace building amongst the youth is very vital and should not be neglected, as this will cause suspicion and lack of trust among the group.
He stated that youth being a very vital class of any society, have an important duty to perform in the development of the Obiaruku community and other communities in the area.
“While I congratulate you on this peace summit, I have to remind you of your place in the development of this community. You have to ensure that peace building is the bedrock of this body. You must live as one and resolve every issue, without bias.
“Your place in the development of every society is very vital, no society will develop, if there is no peace within the youth class.
“I therefore, appeal to you to pursue peace, avoid rumour mongering and be open to each other. When you do this, our society, especially Obiaruku, and Ukwuani Local Government Area will be a better place,” he stated.
