Customs Hands Over 250 Parcels Of Indian Hemp Seized By FOU Zone B To NDLEA

Following the successful seizure of 250 wraps of cannabis sativa popularly known as Indian Hemp, the Comptroller Federal Operations Unit  FOU Zone B Al-Bashir Hamisu has handed over the illicit items to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The official handing over ceremony was held on Thursday January 27, at the FOU  Zonal  headquarters in Kaduna.
Comptroller Al-Bashir Hamisu told newsmen that the operation was done by the Customs in the spirit of inter agency synergy.
“NDLEA are here to receive this 250 parcels of cannabis sativa. We are everywhere. They were not there when we made the seizures. This is done in line with inter agency synergy,” he said.
He explained that Indian Hemp and tramadol are very illicit items and users are mostly involved in criminal activities.

Receiving the items, the Deputy State Commander Operations and Intelligence, NDLEA Kaduna, Aliyu Mu’azu Danmusa  said that they appreciate Customs, while assuring that they will investigate those responsible for trafficking the illicit drugs.
“On behalf of NDLEA we wish to extend our appreciation and commendation to Customs.
“Customs has saved us from a lot of havoc if these drugs go into circulation, there will be more criminal activities,” he said.
According to him,  drugs like cannabis sativa aid  crimes and  are illegal.
“The public needs to know this. This is not the first time FOU is transferring drugs seized to NDLEA, we sincerely appreciate,” he added.
In a related development, Comptroller Hamisu assured that 60 pieces of  Jack knives suspected to have been imported by criminal elements would be handed over to the NIgeria Police Force for investigations.
“The jack knives are sharp and it could be used for a long time by criminals. 
“We will hand it over to the police for future investigations.
“The knives were intercepted in Katsina,” he said.
