CP Alabi Likely New Lagos Police Boss

Baring last minute changes, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi may be announced as the new Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, New Nigerian Newspapers has learnt.

He is to succeed the outgoing Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu, recently promoted as an Assistant Inspector General of Police, due for retirement on 25th January, 2022.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that all arrangements have been concluded for his deployment to Lagos by the police authority in Abuja.

Unconfirmed sources informed our correspondent that the announcement of his deployment would have been made Tuesday.

Efforts to get the comment of the Force Police Public Relations Officer CP Frank Mba on the matter proved abortive as he could not be reached.

Alabi, a detribalised gallant, result oriented and highly intelligent officer has served with absolute happiness, comfort and with peace of mind anywhere he was deployed in the course of serving his father land.

As a man who is not tribalistic in nature, CP Alabi Abiodun has devoted all his time, resources and experiences in checkmating crimes during his days as Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State not regarding the tribal, social, religious and political affiliation of anyone involved. 

The respected Commissioner of Police ensured that security stakeholders in the Northern state including all military and para-military personnel, CDAs, CDCs and PCRCs in Banchi State hold regular meetings to deliberate on the way out of the life-threatening insecurity intimidating the peace and tranquility of the state.

Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun fdc,mnim,psc was born on 31st December, 1964, after his Primary and Secondary education,  gained admission into University of Lagos where he studied Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology & graduated with a second class upper.

A well organized and detailed–oriented personality with a taste for high standard of performance, Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun,fdc,mnim,psc‘s quest for excellence and thirst for more knowledge motivated him to enroll into the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in 1988 where he obtained his masters degree in 1989. Soon after, he offered himself in service of this great nation and got enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 3rd March, 1990 at the Nigeria Police Academy Kano. At the completion of his rigorous training for eighteen months, he was posted to Abia State where he started his professional career at Central Police Station Aba as Patrol & Guard officer.In 1994, he was posted to Osisioma Division, Aba as the Divisional Crime officer (DCO).In 1995, he took over as the officer in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Aba in AbiaState.In 1997, he was deployed to Zone 6 Zonal Headquarters, Calabar as the officer in charge of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Crack Squad In 1998, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).In 1999, he was nominated as a member of pioneer eleven man of Nigeria Police Force Contingent to KOSOVO on peace-keeping under United Nations Mission In KOSOVO (UNMIK).In 2001, after the completion of his mission in KOSOVO, he was mobilized into the elite Nigeria Mobile Police Force as a unit Commander and posted to MOPOL 19 Portharcourt, Rivers State.In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and redeployed to Mopol 22, Ikeja Lagos as the Second in Command (2i/c) to the Squadron Commander.

In 2004, he was deployed to Mopol 43, Diplomatic Protection Squadron in charge of the security of all embassies in Lagos as the Squadron Commander and got promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in 2005.In 2009, he was de-mobbed from the Mobile Police Force and deployed to Zone 2 Onikan, Lagos as officer in charge of Investigation of the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun was later redeployed to Lagos State Command in 2011 and posted to Lion Building Lagos as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).In 2012, precisely February, he was redeployed from Lion Building Division to Divisional Headquarters Ikeja as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).In 2013, Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and deployed to Force Headquarters Abuja as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Administration of the Mobile Police Force.In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and deployed to Taraba State as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Administration.In 2017, Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun was redeployed to Bayelsa State as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)Administration.
In 2018, he was redeployed to Ekiti State as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations where he was nominated to proceed on Higher Defence and Strategic Course at National Defence College Abuja in 2019. At the completion of his course as a Fellow of Defence College in July, 2020, he was promoted to the enviable rank of Commissioner of Police and deployed to Force Criminal Investigation Department (FORCID) Annex, Alagbon Lagos as Commissioner of Police in charge of Central Criminal Registry.

In 2021, precisely February, he was redeployed to Bauchi State Command as the Commissioner of Police before his present posting as  CP Administration Force CID Force headquarters Abuja.

Alabi is a very diligent, humble, loyal, passionate, friendly , rugged crime buster and.multiple award winning officer with numerous accolades and enviable cabinet of honours from different quarters.
