A High Court of Nasarawa State has declared a PhD student, Idris Ahmad Damagani as the dully elected councilor for Yara Electoral Ward of Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
Justice S. A Ayiwulu of the High Court II sitting in Keffi gave the ruling in a suit filed on October 19, 2021 and ordered the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) to issue him a fresh Certificate of Return as winner of the October

6 polls.
The Court held that the All Progressives Congress (APC) erred by forwarding the name of Suleiman Usman to NASIEC as its candidate for the exercise and ordered immediate withdrawal of the Certificate of Return that was issued to him.
The court also ordered that the plaintiff, Idris Ahmad Damagani, be sworn-in immediately as the Councilor of the Electoral Ward.
Justice Ayiwulu gave the ruling on October 25, 2021 which was later challenged at the Court of Appeal, Makurdi, Benue State.
The appeal was however struck out over “lack of jurisdiction” to entertain the matter.  The electoral umpire in compliance with the order had since issued CoR to Damagani.
